AgriBriefing completes buyout with capital advice from MDW Capital

MDW Capital is delighted to announce that it has advised on another innovative financing, completing the third deal since its launch late last year.

AgriBriefing, the specialist business information company covering the global agribusiness supply chain, has completed a buyout of the company, led by Management in partnership with Ares Management Corporation (NYSE: ARES) and existing partner Horizon Capital. The deal sees Ares and Horizon back the management team, led by Rory Brown, in a growth financing that will support the business as it continues building the leading business information, price reporting and data specialist for the global food and agribusiness industry, with funding in place to support further M&A opportunities.

MDW Capital advised AgriBriefing on the capital raise, creating the bespoke financing structure for the group enabling the completion of the transaction.

Rory Brown, Co-founder & CEO of AgriBriefing, said “MDW Capital’s approach is highly commercially focused: they built a deep understanding of our business and key drivers as well as our business plan. With this strategic financial approach, they created a structure that allows us to achieve so many objectives – and with great flexibility. MDW added value to our process from the outset and worked tirelessly to ensure we have reached a hugely successful outcome to the previous part of our journey. Moreover, we are perfectly positioned to drive AgriBriefing’s next phase of organic and acquired growth. We have really enjoyed working with the MDW Capital team; the quality of their advice and their approach is second to none.”

Adam Lewis, Partner at Horizon Capital, added “MDW Capital has secured a funding structure that delivers outstanding value for us as long-term investors in high-growth businesses. The team clearly understands investors’ objectives and the needs of growing, acquisitive businesses and brought their experience to bear, providing excellent advice and innovative thinking throughout the process.”

Michael Dennis, Partner and Co-Head of European Credit at Ares Management, said “MDW Capital’s deep understanding of both the Private Equity and direct lending markets resulted in best in class structuring and execution for what was a complex transaction.”

Andrew Aylwin, Managing Partner at MDW Capital, said “Another week another deal! We are proud to have worked with Rory and his team to raise the sort of capital that sees AgriBriefing positioned to continue its strong growth while providing significant flexibility. As the only capital advisers in the market who have been borrowers and investors, our entire focus is on helping our clients to raise the right type of capital that maximises their success.”
